Institutions
in media are generally well – funded and established business giants which deal
in the production and distribution of advertising, entertainment and
information services. These Institutions are some of the most well known
businesses in the world; a few examples are Disney and News Corp. These two
media Giants operate in some differing areas from each other. News Corp. As the
name implies does deal with the production and distribution of newspaper
nationwide along with news channels meaning that they have a large impact on
the information flow in any given area, Britain for example has Sky news and
the Sun newspaper both owned by this single institution meaning that they have
a large control over information flow. Disney however, deals in other areas,
such as; Children’s television channels and the creation of children’s toys
which are mass produced and distributed on global scale. These are only a
fraction of the companies’ outlets; they both deal in large scale film
production, TV shows, Music creation and distribution, Film distribution, and
many more. This applies to most of the large media institutions.
